About the Fellowship
The BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ Digital Storytelling Fellowship, part of Montgomery Community Media’s Digital Futures Institute, integrates racial equity and social justice into digital storytelling and media production. This 12-week program, based in MCM’s Silver Spring Media Lab, empowers a diverse generation of media professionals through comprehensive training in digital production, multimedia storytelling, and innovative media technologies, emphasizing inclusive narratives and equitable representation.
Aimed at amplifying the voices of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, the fellowship prioritizes lived experiences over formal education. It enriches the media landscape with diverse perspectives and equips fellows with the tools and platforms to share their stories within their communities. Participants receive hands-on training from media experts and a stipend, enabling them to effectively communicate their stories and contribute to a more inclusive and representative media narrative.
